Search Bellevue Jail Roster

The Bellevue jail roster is the booking log for people arrested in Bellevue by city police and held on behalf of King County. Bellevue sits across Lake Washington from Seattle and is one of the biggest cities on the Eastside. When the Bellevue Police make an arrest, the person is taken to a King County jail, so the roster you want to search is the county one. Use this page to find a name, check a booking date, or track the custody status of an inmate.

Bellevue Police and the Jail Roster

The Bellevue Police Department runs the city side of arrests. They are the ones on the street. Once a suspect is arrested, the Bellevue officers drive the person to a King County jail. Most bookings go to the King County Correctional Facility in downtown Seattle. Some go to the Maleng Regional Justice Center in Kent. The jail roster tracks the booking at the county level, not the city level.

Go to the King County DAJD site to look up a name. The Department of Adult and Juvenile Detention runs both jails and posts the current roster online. Search by last name. The record shows the booking date, the charges, the housing unit, and the bail. If the name does not show up right away, give it some time. Jail intake is slow on busy nights.

Bellevue Police Records Division

The Bellevue Police Records Division handles public record requests for incident reports, arrest reports, and police logs. You can ask for a copy online, by mail, or in person at the city records desk. Under RCW 42.56, the Public Records Act, the city must reply within five business days. The reply may be the record, a denial, or a time estimate.

Keep in mind that the Bellevue police file and the King County jail file are not the same thing. The police file tells you what happened at the scene. The jail file is the booking log. If you need both, file with both agencies.

The Bellevue Police page also links out to crime stats, community programs, and the records portal. The image below shows the page.

How to Search the Bellevue Jail Roster

Start with a full name. Use the spelling on the driver license if you have it. If not, try common spellings. The King County booking system often lists middle names and dates of birth, so you can tell two people with the same name apart.

Then check the booking date window. The online roster shows current inmates and recent releases. For older data, you need to file a records request with the DAJD or with the Bellevue Police Records desk.

If the person is no longer in the jail, they may have been moved to state prison. Check the Washington DOC Incarcerated Search. The DOC lookup covers all state prisons. Use the name or the DOC number if you know it.

Note: Under RCW 70.48.100, the jail register must log each booking and release, and that log is open to the public.

Court Data for Bellevue Arrests

The Odyssey court portal is the statewide search tool for Washington district and municipal courts. Use it to find the case tied to a Bellevue jail booking. Search by name. The portal shows the case number, the court, the charges, the next hearing, and the judge. For Bellevue city cases, the case will show as a Bellevue Municipal Court filing. For felony cases, the filing goes to King County Superior Court.

Pair the jail roster with the court docket for the full story. The roster says where the person is being held. The docket says when they appear next.

Custody Notification for Bellevue

The VINE service sends free custody status alerts for people in Washington jails and state prisons. Sign up with a phone number. VINE calls, texts, or emails you when the inmate is booked, moved, or released. VINE works with King County data, so a Bellevue booking shows up on the system after the jail adds it.

Crime victims also have access to the DOC Victim Services Program at (800) 322-2201 for state prison cases. The DOC Search Resources page lists more tools.

Note: VINE is not instant, so call the King County jail booking desk for the most current status of an inmate.

Bellevue Jail Records Law

Two state laws set the rules for the Bellevue jail roster. The first is RCW 70.48.100, the jail register law. It says every jail must log each booking and release and that the log is open to the public. The second is RCW Chapter 42.56, the Public Records Act. It gives the public a strong right to ask for records without giving a reason.

The Washington Department of Corrections was set up under RCW 72.09. The DOC runs state-operated adult prisons and the supervision of adults released to the community. A Bellevue arrest that ends in a state prison term shows up in the DOC system after sentencing.

For a Washington criminal history check, use the WATCH service from the State Patrol. This is the only official source for conviction data in the state.
