Bremerton Jail Roster Records

The Bremerton jail roster tracks people booked into the Kitsap County Jail after an arrest by Bremerton Police. Bremerton is the largest city in Kitsap County, sitting across Puget Sound from Seattle. The city does not run its own jail. All bookings go to the county facility in Port Orchard. You can search the Bremerton jail roster by name through the Kitsap County Sheriff's site, which posts current inmate data online. This page walks through how to find a booking, what the roster shows, and where to go when the online list does not have the record you need.

How the Bremerton Jail Roster Works

The Bremerton Police Department handles law enforcement inside city limits. When an officer makes an arrest, the person is transported to the Kitsap County Jail at 614 Division Street in Port Orchard. That is the only adult jail in the county. Bremerton does not have a holding facility of its own, so every booking from the city ends up on the Kitsap County roster. The sheriff runs the jail and keeps the log.

To find someone booked after a Bremerton arrest, go to the Kitsap County Sheriff jail roster page. Type in the last name. The system will show all current inmates that match. Each record has the booking date, charges, bail amount, and the housing unit. If the name does not come up, the person may have been released or transferred already.

Some bookings take time to show up. Intake at the jail can run a few hours from the point of arrest to the moment the record goes live on the site. Call the jail booking desk if you need an answer right now.

Bremerton Jail Roster Search Tips

The Bremerton Police Department page is shown in the screenshot below. This is the city law enforcement agency that handles arrests inside Bremerton before transport to the county jail.

Start with the full last name. First name helps. If the person gave an alias at booking, the roster may list both names. Common last names can pull up many records, so narrow the search with a first name or a date range if the system lets you. Spelling counts. One wrong letter and the match fails.

If you still cannot find the person in the Kitsap County roster, they may have been picked up by a different agency. The Washington State Patrol and federal agencies also make arrests in the Bremerton area. State cases go to the DOC Incarcerated Search after sentencing. Federal cases show up in the Bureau of Prisons inmate locator.

Bremerton Police and Arrest Records

The Bremerton Police Department keeps its own arrest files separate from the jail roster. The police report covers what happened: the incident, the officer, the reason for the stop. The jail roster covers where the person went after the arrest. These are two different records from two different agencies. You may need both to get the full picture.

To get a copy of a Bremerton police report, file a public records request with the city. Under RCW 42.56, the Public Records Act, the city must respond within five business days. The reply may be the record, a denial, or a time estimate for when the record will be ready. Some details in a report may be redacted. Juvenile names, active investigation notes, and some witness data can be held back under the law.

Kitsap County Jail Register Law

Under RCW 70.48.100, the Kitsap County Jail must keep a jail register that is open to the public. The law says the jail must log the name of each person held, the hour and date of the booking, the cause, and the hour, date, and manner of release. This covers every Bremerton arrest that results in a jail booking.

The full inmate file is not public. Medical records, mental health data, and security plans are held in confidence. Only the register portion is open by default. Criminal justice agencies, the courts, and research groups may get more, but the general public sees the register only.

The state DOC was set up under RCW 72.09 and runs all state prisons. A Bremerton arrest that leads to a prison sentence will move from the Kitsap County roster to the DOC system. Use the DOC Incarcerated Search to find someone in state prison.

Custody Alerts for Bremerton Arrests

The VINE service is free. It sends custody status alerts when a person is booked, moved, or released from the Kitsap County Jail. Sign up with a name and a phone number or email. VINE sends a call, text, or email when the status changes. It works for Bremerton bookings because the data flows from the county jail to the VINE system.

VINE is run with help from the Washington Association of Sheriffs and Police Chiefs. There can be a short lag between the jail system update and the alert going out. For the most current information, call the Kitsap County Jail booking desk directly.

Bremerton Municipal Court Records

The Bremerton Municipal Court handles misdemeanors and city code violations that come from Bremerton Police arrests. If the charge is a city ordinance case, this is the court of record. Felony and serious cases go to Kitsap County Superior Court instead.

Pair the jail roster with the court docket. The roster tells you where the person is right now. The court docket tells you when the next hearing is and what happens next in the case. Use the Odyssey court portal to look up Washington court cases by name or case number. A booking date on the jail roster often lines up with a first appearance the next business day.

Note: The Bremerton jail roster shows the booking register only, not the full case file or the court outcome.

Criminal History and the Bremerton Jail Roster

The jail roster is not a criminal history. It is a log of who is in jail right now or who was booked recently. For a full Washington criminal history, use the WATCH service from the Washington State Patrol. WATCH is the official source for conviction records in Washington. It covers the whole state, not just Kitsap County.

The DOC also runs a Search Resources page that links out to state and federal inmate lookup tools. Use this page when you are not sure which agency holds the person you are looking for. It pulls together the DOC search, the federal BOP locator, and the ICE detainee locator in one spot.
